Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
This policy explains how AMAZI MOTO Ltd ("Amazi Moto", "we"), a company registered in Rwanda (RDB company code 121960643), collects and uses personal data when you use our website, the Amazi Moto rider and staff apps, our motorcycles, batteries and swap stations. It is written to follow Rwanda's law on the protection of personal data and privacy (Law N° 058/2021 of 13/10/2021).
What we collect
- Identity and contact details when you register: name, phone number, email, address, date of birth, national ID number, and photos of your ID and of yourself.
- Vehicle and battery data: location (GPS), charge level, battery health and usage of the bike and batteries you use, sent automatically by the equipment.
- Payments: swaps, instalments, deposits and balances, and the MTN MoMo phone number and transaction references used to pay. We do not see or store your MoMo PIN.
- App data: your device's location (to show nearby stations), photos you choose to upload, notification tokens, and basic device and log information to keep the apps working and secure.
- Messages you send us, such as feedback, support requests and emails.
Why we use it
- To provide our services: register you, run battery swaps, manage your financing plan and take payments.
- To keep bikes and batteries safe: locate them, detect faults, and lock a bike remotely when payments are seriously overdue, as set out in your contract.
- To meet legal duties, such as accounting, tax and responding to lawful requests from authorities.
- To improve our network, for example deciding where new stations are needed, using combined data that does not identify you.
- To contact you about your account, your bike, payments and service changes.
We do not sell your personal data.
Who we share it with
- Financing partners that fund your bike, for the plan you signed up to.
- MTN Mobile Money, to process payments.
- Service providers that host and run our systems (cloud hosting, SMS and app notifications), only for that purpose and under confidentiality.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
Some of these providers may store data outside Rwanda. When that happens, we make sure the transfer is allowed by Rwandan law and that the data stays protected.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you are our customer and afterwards for as long as needed to settle accounts and meet legal and accounting obligations, then delete or anonymise it.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, object to some uses, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. To do so, write to [email protected]. You can also complain to Rwanda's data protection authority, the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA).
Security
Access to personal data is limited to staff who need it for their work, and we protect our systems with passwords, access controls and backups.
This website
The website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. The maps load their tiles from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address to deliver them.
